I'm home and relaxing now after a very lovely day in Wickham Park. We learned two new dances and successfully reviewed (and taught some anew!) the two we learned in November. I am quite pleased and even more excited to get out dancing with my new friends in Constantinople!
I completely chickened out on the Galliards. As I thought I might. But instead of doing Official Branle we did Horse's instead along with the Pavanes. It was a nice tie in with Black Nag, if you're like me and you like things thematic.
Of course the boys got up to their fighting, and Roland got a chance to get in some rapier fighting. He was quite excited over the bruises, scrapes and scratches he 'earned' in the bear pit. I enjoyed watching the fights and cleaning raw cotton with the ladies in the shade.
However some things were announced at court that are changing my plans a bit for dances. Firstly it was announced that January will have the collegium event in addition to the normal monthly meeting, so I am gonna try to squeeze in my dances from February then. Her Grace also announced that her daughter and her girl scout troupe would be coming to our February event and we would demo for them, and yes, they were very much looking forward to dancing. So I've added the Official Branle in for them, as I think they'll quite enjoy dancing it with a bunch of giant fighters. The other February dances will be new for them but a review for all of our good knights.
